there is an Ancestral File that lists 14 children. For further information about this family, there are two websites about the Great Migration of 1843 to Oregon Territory that list the Howell's. John and Temperance and many of their offspring went on that wagon train. The sites are http://www.oregonpioneers.com/ortrail.htm (check under 1843) and www.peak.org/~mransom/pioneers.html. The Howell's and their daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and George McCorkle settled in the Willamette valley in a place near Salem that was called Howell Prairie. Both John and Temperance are buried in the cemetery there, close to the cabin where they lived and originally on their property. There is information about land claims made by several of the Howell's at two other websites. One is www.arcweb.sos.state.or.us/
